How long a dermal filler appointment takes
Most hyaluronic acid filler lasts between 6 and 18 months, depending on the product and the area. Thin gels in mobile spots like the lips fade sooner, while firmer gels used for structure in the cheeks or jawline hold longer. There is no fixed expiration date; most people return for a touch-up when they notice the volume softening. Radiesse, used for the hands, is calcium hydroxylapatite rather than hyaluronic acid and tends to last around a year or more.
What kind of treatment is a dermal filler?
A non-surgical, in-office injectable treatment. Hyaluronic acid gel is placed with a fine needle or a blunt cannula after numbing, with little to no downtime. Performed by our nurse injectors, Becca (MSN, FNP-C) and Angie (RN), under medical director Dr. Arledge, a plastic surgeon.
Where we inject dermal fillers
The face and hands: the lips, cheeks, jawline and chin, the under-eye hollows, the nasolabial folds from the nose to the mouth, and the backs of the hands. Each area is priced per syringe and has its own page.
What dermal fillers treat
For restoring volume lost to aging, balancing contour and asymmetry, defining features like the lips and jawline, and softening folds such as the nasolabial lines. Hyaluronic acid filler is reversible with hyaluronidase; the calcium hydroxylapatite used for the hands is not. Not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding, or over an active infection or cold sore.

Our Dermal Filler Services
Nasolabial Fold Filler
$800 – $925 / syringe
Hyaluronic acid filler for nasolabial folds (smile lines) in Lubbock, placed by our nurse injectors Becca (FNP-C) and Angie (RN). Because these folds are usually driven by midface volume loss, we often lift the cheek to soften them from above rather than fill the crease alone. Priced per syringe, with the plan set at your consultation.

Hand Filler
$1,000 – $1,100 / syringe
Hand filler in Lubbock, $1,000 to $1,100 per syringe, placed by our nurse injectors Becca (FNP-C) and Angie (RN). Restores volume to the backs of the hands and softens the look of prominent tendons, veins, and bones, using Voluma (hyaluronic acid) or Radiesse (calcium hydroxylapatite).

Filler Dissolving
$350 / Hylenex vial
Filler dissolving in Lubbock with Hylenex (hyaluronidase), $350 per vial, placed by our nurse injectors Becca (FNP-C) and Angie (RN). It removes hyaluronic acid filler you no longer want, whether from migration, overfilling, or an uneven result. It only works on HA fillers, not Radiesse or Sculptra.

Hyaluronic acid gel that restores volume the moment it is placed
What are dermal fillers?
A dermal filler is a soft gel your injector places under the skin to restore volume, balance a contour, or soften a fold. Most of the fillers we use are hyaluronic acid, a sugar your body already makes and one that pulls in and holds water. That is why the result shows up the moment the gel goes in, and why a hyaluronic acid filler can be dissolved later if you change your mind. Our gels come from the Juvederm family (Allergan) and the Restylane and RHA lines (Galderma and Revance), and your injector chooses among them by how thick or soft each one is and where it is going.
One filler we use is not hyaluronic acid. For the backs of the hands we reach for Radiesse, which is calcium hydroxylapatite, a different material that also prompts your own collagen over time. It behaves differently and is not reversed the same way, which we explain below.
This page is the starting point. Each area has its own page and its own pricing, all set per syringe at your consultation. If you already know where you are headed, jump to lip filler or cheek filler. If not, the sections below walk through how fillers work and how to choose.
What to expect from your filler appointment
Your dermal filler appointment runs 30 to 60 minutes depending on the area. Topical numbing goes on for 15 to 20 minutes first, then your injector places the filler with either a fine needle or a blunt-tipped cannula. Most fillers also contain lidocaine baked in, so comfort during the injection is generally good.
Some swelling and bruising are normal for the first few days. Lip filler swells the most — expect noticeable puffiness for 24 to 72 hours. Cheek, jawline, and other areas swell less noticeably. To minimize bruising, skip strenuous exercise, alcohol, and blood thinners (aspirin, fish oil, NSAIDs) for 24 to 48 hours before your appointment.
Final results settle over 2 to 4 weeks as swelling resolves and the product integrates. Duration varies by product and area: 6 to 12 months for lip filler, 12 to 24 months for cheek and jawline. All hyaluronic acid fillers are reversible with Hylenex if needed.

Hyaluronic acid adds volume immediately because it binds water in the tissue. How long it holds depends on the product and the spot. Thin gels in areas that move a lot fade sooner, while firm gels used for structure last longer. Across our menu, most hyaluronic acid filler runs somewhere between six and eighteen months, and there is no fixed expiration date. You come back when you notice the volume softening, not on a schedule.
We fill several areas, each priced per syringe:
- Lip filler, $550 to $925 (Volbella, Kysse, Juvederm Ultra, Vollure)
- Cheek filler, $750 to $1,000 (Voluma, Lyft, Contour, RHA-4)
- Jawline filler, $800 to $1,025 (Volux, RHA-4, Vollure)
- Under-eye filler, $550 to $900 (Volbella, Eyelight, Restylane Refyne)
- Hand filler, $1,000 to $1,100 (Voluma, Radiesse)
We also soften the nasolabial folds that run from the nose to the mouth. Those are priced per syringe like the rest, and the exact number is set at your consultation once your injector sees how much product the area needs.
The visit itself is quick. The gels contain lidocaine, and your injector usually applies a numbing cream first, so most areas are quiet during placement. Some injections are done with a fine needle for precise shaping; others use a blunt-tipped cannula, which slides under the skin and tends to bruise less. Expect some swelling, and sometimes light bruising, in the first few days. Swelling usually peaks within a day or two and eases over the following week. Do not judge the result early. Most people see the settled version at about two weeks.
Here is the part that makes hyaluronic acid forgiving. If you dislike the outcome, or if filler shifts over time, a provider can inject hyaluronidase, an enzyme that breaks the gel down so your body clears it. At The Spa that reversal is $350 per vial, and you can read more on our filler dissolving page. Radiesse is the exception. Because it is calcium hydroxylapatite and not hyaluronic acid, hyaluronidase does not dissolve it, so hand filler placed with Radiesse cannot be reversed that way. That is worth knowing before you choose it.
One risk deserves plain language. Rarely, filler can enter or press on a blood vessel and block blood flow, which is called a vascular occlusion. It is uncommon, but it is the serious one, and caught early it is usually treatable, often with the same hyaluronidase used to dissolve filler. This is the real reason injector experience matters more than a low price. Becca (MSN, FNP-C) and Angie (RN) do the injecting here, under our medical director Dr. Arledge, a plastic surgeon, and The Spa has been open in Lubbock since 2016.
Plan for 5 to 7 days of swelling after most areas
Before your first filler treatment
Filler is not right for every moment. Tell your injector if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, since it is not recommended then as a precaution. Hold off over an active cold sore, infection, or breakout at the injection site, or while an autoimmune condition is flaring. If you tend to get cold sores, say so, because injections near the mouth can wake the virus up, and your injector may start you on a short antiviral first. An honest health history is part of a safe treatment. We cannot promise a specific result, and no honest injector will, but we will tell you plainly what to expect.
Hyaluronic acid is not the only way to add volume. Sculptra is a collagen stimulator made from poly-L-lactic acid. Instead of filling with gel, it prompts your own collagen, so volume builds gradually over a few months and tends to last around two years. For a route that uses your own blood, we also offer PRP filler. And if the lines that bother you come from muscle movement rather than lost volume, such as the frown between the brows or the horizontal forehead lines, a neurotoxin like Botox is the better tool, since filler adds volume and does not relax movement.

One practical note: filler is cosmetic, so insurance never covers it and we do not bill it. When you are ready, book online or call (806) 701-5840, and we will start with a consultation to match the area, the product, and the amount to what you have in mind.
FAQ
Your questions, answered
We’ve answered some of the most common questions below to help make your experience simple, transparent, and stress-free.
Dermal fillers are injectable gels—mostly hyaluronic acid (the same substance your skin naturally produces) plus a few biostimulators like Sculptra—used to restore lost volume, add contour, and smooth lines. We use them in lips, cheeks, jawline, under eyes, temples, nasolabial folds, and hands. Results are immediate and last 6–18 months depending on the product and area.
What are dermal fillers and what do they do?
We typically use Restylane Kysse, Juvederm Volbella, or RHA Redensity for lips—soft, flexible gels that move naturally with expression. For more structure (a defined lip line), we'd choose Restylane Refyne or Juvederm Ultra. The right product depends on the look you want—natural plumping vs. defined shape—and your lip anatomy. We'll choose together at consultation.
What's the best filler for lips?
Most patients see 9–12 months from a full syringe of lip filler. Some patients metabolize faster (especially if active in cardio) and see 6–8 months; others see 14+ months. Touch-ups every 9–12 months maintain consistent shape. Don't expect a single treatment to last 2 years—that's not how lip filler works.
How long do lip fillers last?
Lips: usually 1 syringe per treatment, sometimes 1.5 for full restoration. Cheeks: 2–4 syringes per side over 1–2 sessions for full restoration. Jawline: 2–4 syringes. Under eyes: 1–2 syringes total. Nasolabial folds: 1 syringe. Your provider calculates based on your face and goals. We don't push more product than you need.
How much filler do I need?
Hyaluronic acid fillers run $550 to $1,100 per syringe depending on the product. Common products: Volbella .5ml $550, Eyelight $550, SkinVive $550, Kysse $800, RHA-1/2/3/4 $800 each, Lyft $750, Defyne $850, Refyne $850, Juvederm Ultra $850, Vollure $925, Contour $925, Voluma $1,000, Volux $1,025. Radiesse (calcium hydroxylapatite) $1,100. Members receive discounted per-syringe pricing.
What does a syringe of filler cost in Lubbock?
Less than you'd think. We apply topical numbing for 15–20 minutes before treatment, and all hyaluronic acid fillers contain lidocaine that further numbs as the product is injected. Areas like lips are more sensitive than cheeks. Most patients are comfortable throughout. We can use a cannula instead of a needle for certain areas (less bruising, less pain).
Does filler hurt?
Swelling is normal for 24–48 hours (lips can swell visibly for 3 days). Bruising is possible at any injection site. Most patients return to normal activity immediately—just skip strenuous exercise, heat, and alcohol for 24 hours. Final shape settles at 2 weeks once swelling resolves.
What's the recovery from dermal fillers?
Yes—hyaluronic acid fillers can be dissolved within 24 hours using hyaluronidase (Hylenex), which we offer in-house. We use this if you're not happy with the result, if there's been migration, or if a complication arises. Sculptra and Radiesse are NOT reversible—we're more conservative with those products as a result.
Can fillers be reversed?
Fillers replace lost volume—they add to your face. Botox relaxes muscles to soften wrinkles caused by movement. Fillers treat lines that show up at rest (deep nasolabial folds, sunken cheeks); Botox treats lines that show up when you move (forehead, crow's feet). They work in different ways and most patients use both for complete results.
What's the difference between fillers and Botox?
Improperly placed filler can migrate, especially in lips. Migration is a sign of overfill or wrong product placement. Our team is trained to place product in the correct anatomical plane and to use proper dosing. If you've had filler elsewhere and have concerns about migration, we offer dissolving and re-treatment plans.
Can filler migrate?
Not when used correctly. The myth comes from patients who've been chronically over-filled. Properly dosed filler integrates with surrounding tissue and supports the area without stretching. Skin stretches from massive volume changes (major weight loss/gain, pregnancy), not from appropriately dosed filler.
Will fillers stretch out my skin?
Yes—and they often work better in combination. We frequently pair fillers with Botox (volume + muscle relaxation), with Sculptra (immediate fill + long-term collagen building), with PRP microneedling (skin quality + structural support), and with skincare protocols. We'll build a combined plan if that's what your goals require.
Can fillers be combined with other treatments?
A follow-up appointment is recommended 2 weeks after treatment so swelling resolves and you see the true result. For staged restoration we typically space additional sessions 2 to 4 weeks apart so you can evaluate and we can refine. Maintenance treatments are typically needed every 6 to 18 months depending on the area treated and filler used.
How long should I wait between filler sessions?
Pregnant or breastfeeding patients, patients with active infections in the treatment area, patients with certain autoimmune or bleeding disorders, and patients on certain medications. We screen for all of this at consultation. If filler isn't appropriate for you, we'll tell you and suggest alternatives.
